J Dowd & Sons is a family-run roofing and building firm that has worked across North Birmingham since 1970.
How We Started
J Dowd & Sons started out doing residential roof repairs across North Birmingham and built its name on tidy, lasting work and word of mouth. More than five decades on, a lot of our jobs still come from neighbours who saw us on the street and from customers we first worked for years ago.
Ian Dowd runs the firm today, working alongside his brothers Tony and John and his son Tom. Over the years we have grown from roof repairs into new roofs, flat roofs, chimneys, fascias and guttering, plus driveways, extensions and brickwork, so most jobs on a property can be handled by one team.
Many of the lads on the tools have been with us for more than ten years. The same family team that quotes your job is the team that turns up to do it, and that is what keeps the standard consistent from one street to the next.
