Bungalow and garage flat roofs

The post-war housing around Red House Park and the Scott Arms included a lot of bungalows and semis with detached or attached garages, and plenty of those have flat felt roofs that are now well past their best. The old built-up felt goes brittle, splits along the laps and blisters, and the chippings wash into the gutter. On a bungalow especially, a flat roof section is a big share of the total roof, so when it fails you notice it indoors quickly.

Replacing tired felt

Where a felt flat roof has had its day, we strip it off, check and renew the decking, and relay in a modern covering that will not need the same constant attention. EPDM rubber is the workhorse here, around £80 to £120 per square metre fitted, laid as a single sheet so there are very few joints to fail. For roofs that get foot traffic or want a harder finish, GRP fibreglass is a good option.
